Whether you are brand new to Vision Nicaragua or have been involved for any amount of time, we would love your partnership. Here’s the breakdown of “The Shared Harvest” and how you can get involved.
The Shared Harvest program is an opportunity for you to partner with Vision Nicaragua and the local Nicaraguan church community to make a real impact in the lives of families living in food insecurity. Through this program, we are able to distribute rice, beans, and oil to several villages throughout the year. We are able to share the love of Christ to the widows, kidney patients, and many other families through providing these basic resources.
Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere leaving many of our families food insecure. The main source of employment is in the local sugar plantation. Employment is seasonal due to planting and harvest seasons, so families may go months without work while waiting for the cane to become ready for harvest. Simultaneously, we have many families who are un-employed due to being diagnosed with chronic kidney failure as a result of working in the plantation and exposure to harsh chemicals.
To be able to fund this program for a year we are trusting God and moving forward in raising $24,000. This will help ensure that no family goes un-served.
