Our Five Areas of Vision
Outreach
Sharing God's love and word through reaching new believers for Christ. This can be accomplished by partnering with local ministers, churches, and/or leaders/groups to go into various communities, both new and old, having events, services, programs, children and youth camps, etc. The hope is this will provide an introduction and ongoing example of God's love. We can utilize programs within Outreach to focus on and minister to key groups such as widows, kidney patients, and any other group in need of love and support.
Discipleship
This is the next step of outreach in all areas of ministry: Equipping the pastors and leaders to continue pouring into the new believers; Providing resources, bibles, videos, studies and necessary tools for help to grow the knowledge and faith of the believers; Creating classes led by Nicaraguans, and sometimes North Americans, that can focus in on key areas of growth; What God says about forgiveness, grace, relationships, marriage, family, legalism, etc.; Establish a curriculum that can be utilized by VA teams and Nicaraguan groups on an ongoing basis. This, along with relationship building and spending time in the communities, will help demonstrate God's love.
Education
Scholarships/Sponsorships- We hope to provide the opportunity and resources to as many children, youth, and young adults as possible. We want to help equip them with a skill and appropriate education and knowledge to obtain a job. Our hope is that this will enable them to graduate with an area of focus, to obtain a job, provide for their family and pour resources back into the communities. We continue to refine this program to better serve the Nicaraguans, better utilize the resources we have, and to provide the best opportunities possible for everyone involved. We want to continue to be diversified to support skilled trade school, pastoral studies, general university and also specialty studies. VN will also continue to define the investment that each student must be willing to make in order to receive a scholarship.
Healthcare
Vision Nicaragua, in partnership with others in the medical community, hopes to provide basic medical care and health education to our communities and various people in need. We hope to provide resources for emergency situations, ongoing educational healthcare training, outreach clinics in the communities, as well as an operational clinic at the mission center that will have a few set times for people to visit for acute and chronic care. We hope to partner with various teams to provide specialty care as we organize and plan trips. The clinics will be ongoing with the Nicaraguan team and then be joined by VN medical teams when they are available. Even though VN is not a medical establishment, we feel that is it our responsibility to provide as much basic care as possible to improve quality of life and provide basic medical resources to those who would normally not be able to afford them.
Nourishment
We are called to feed the hungry. This is a basic necessity of life and we are called to come alongside the people of Nicaragua to help provide food to those in need. This program is designed to provide rice and beans, vegetables, and fruits to those who don't have the resources to provide for their families. We also want to provide educational training about diet and cleanliness that can help prevent health problems. (This can coincide with our healthcare outreach). We will partner with the local community leaders/pastors to assess ongoing community needs, state of economy and employment, crisis situations, etc. Our goal is to have the resources available to come alongside and help supplement the needs through our outreach ministries. Shared Harvest will also provide food to the various focus groups on an ongoing basis - widows, families dealing with sickness or death, or someone without work. This program is designed to be a helping hand and is not intended to take the place of family, church, or the community in their call to support and love their neighbor.
